Happy New Year!

In our society, we usually spend the eve of a new year wishing the coming annum is better than the one we leave behind. And wishing is about where it ends.

Instead of the annual hopefest, how about we each resolve to do what we can to make the new year just a little better for everyone around us? If we all did that, humankind might actually make some progress on the myriad problems we face.

If nothing else, it would increase mutual respect. And the world could use a whole lot more of that these days.
