PDN Training Talk With Grant Cunningham

Last night’s episode of Training Talk was something of a milestone for me. I’ve always wanted to have a candid talk about knife defense with Alessandro Padovani of Safer Faster Defense, and we finally got to do that — in public, no less!

Alessandro is an expert on the knife in self defense, and we talked about a whole range of related topics: the difference between using a knife as a defensive tool and defending against someone using a knife; how you need to understand targeting with a knife versus with a gun; why most knife defense techniques being taught don’t work well; what he thinks are the important features on a defensive knife; carrying a knife and dealing with the convoluted laws; which opening system he prefers; how you need to practice; and a whole lot more.

I asked him some hard questions and he didn’t pull his punches. I learned a lot from the discussion, and I’m sure you will too!
