"The Book of Colt Firearms"
edited by R.L. Wilson
Let's get this out of the way: this book is expensive - but there is nothing like it on the market! Covers all Colt-produced firearms, giving dates of production, marking details, variations, finishes, calibers, engineering changes, serial number ranges, and much more. In fact, if you call Colt and ask them a question, this is the book that they check for answers! An absolute requirement for the serious Colt user or collector, and a book which seems to increase in value at almost the same rate as the firearms it covers!

"Colt: An American Legend"
by R.L. Wilson
This is a terrific "coffee table" book of Colt firearms, featuring lots of full color photos of Colt products. The production quality is very high, and if you like engraved and limited edition Colts, this is the book for you!

"The Custom Revolver"
by Hamilton Bowen
This is the book that I turn to for gunsmithing inspiration! Hamilton Bowen is the pre-eminent revolversmith of our generation. In this book, he details what goes into the crafting of a "best quality" custom revolver. The chapter on aesthetics alone is worth the price of the book!

"Steel Canvas"
by R.L. Wilson
If you like engraved, special edition, and decorated arms this is THE "coffee table" book for you! Superb photos of handguns and longarms produced by the very best artisans in the history of arms making. You'll see guns from every manufacturer, along with many of the best engravers that have ever lived. There is even a fairly comprehensive list of engravers from all over the world! There are Tiffany guns, Colt presentation pieces, embellished guns from famous shooters like Annie Oakley, gold inlay, custom woodwork, and much more. Like all of Wilson's books, the printing quality is top-notch. One of my favorites to leaf through on a rainy evening!
